I am just wondering if I can return to Canada in May 8, 2018 if my PR card is expired on Aug 15, 2018?
Please advise if the validity of a PR card is regarded the same way as that of a passport in that it technically becomes useless 6 months before the actual expiry date?
There is no limit to how close to the expiry date it can be used.
As long as it has not expired, you can use it.
It is important to keep in mind though that there is no correlation between the expiry date and whether or not you have met your residency requirements. The onus is on each permanent resident to ensure that they have met their residency requirements.
my pr card got expired in July 2017 i had send it for renewing in June 2017 till now i have not received my new card ,
i have to travel urgently as my criteria of urgency does not meet CIc to process my pr card urgently ,
but if i travel will i be able to enter Canada with expiry PR card ?
if i carry with me landing documents /SIN card driving licence health card and my receipt of pr renewal from CIc web site /email .
i do understand i will not be permitted to board a commercial carrier but i can return in a private vehicle, like your own car …but does private vehicle means a friend car also ??
as i will not be having my car at border but my friend can drop me at Canada border from US i will fly to NEW YORK WHILE COMING BACK TO CANADA .
ALSO my question even if i have US visa do they ask for PR CARD as i will be carrying expiry PR card ,can i land up in problem and they dint allow entry in US ?
