I will be completing first anniversary of my first PRC on 15 Dec.
I have to fill in PRC renewal form. I have absent days around 1075 if I do not count partial days in Canada towards ’ days absent number ’ and in this way I will complete 730 days by end of November.
In PRC renewal form item 21 requires to list all absences . For example if departed from Canada 10 April for India and landed back in Canada on 20 April should I write in FROM column 10 April or 11 April ?
Similarly what should I write in ’ TO ’ column 20 April or 21 April . In last column what should I write as days absent : 9 or 10 or 11 ?
I travelled very frequently so it’s imp for me. Secondly is it a good idea to apply when I have completed say 715 days say around 15 Nov or better wait first complete 730 days then apply .
Would be very grateful for reply specially from moderator as I guess it’s a tough question .
For the purpose of calculating the number of days to comply with the residency obligation in A28(2)(a), a day includes a full day or any part of a day that a permanent resident is physically present in Canada. Any part of a day spent in Canada, or otherwise in compliance with A28(2)(a), is to be counted as one full day for the purpose of calculating the 730 days in a five-year period."
We suggest that it is best that you contact some CIC representatives directly to confirm this information and to get some clarification and additional information.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
Hi
Thank you for your advice. I called the CIC call centre. The lady confirmed the information you had provided. She said part of day in Canada counts as one full day in Canada. And she said I should fill in the dates in item 21 of PRC application accordingly.
On my enquiry she suggested that I should apply after completing 730 days .
