Hi all,
Ok I will be moving to Ontario soon from Nova Scotia and I need some info,
I currently have a class 1 license and I’m switching it to an AZ license and yes I know I need to get a medical done in order to get my license switched over…
My question is, do the violations on my Nova Scotia abstract get transferred onto my Ontario abstract?
I have fines in NS, NB, QC and ON, all of the violations are with my NS license and not with an ON license so my abstract should be clear…right??
Thanks
Brad
Hello Brad,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
You can find some detailed information regarding getting an Ontario Driver’s Licence in our Settlement.Org I have a driver’s licence from another province in Canada. How do I get an Ontario driver’s licence? article.
Regarding your question about fines and violations in other provinces, many provinces have reciprocal agreements. For example, Ontario has a separate agreement with other Provinces and Territories called the Canadian Driver’s Licence Compact.
According to the Government of Alberta website in the When Drivers Move From One Province to Another section,
If you have any questions about the tickets and violations you received out of Ontario and would like to see how it could affect you in Ontario, please contact the department of the MTO:
