I am a protected person in canada. My refugee application was successfully accepted, and I have already applied for permanent residency , I’m still waiting for my PR interview and it’s been around 14 months now, they say it can take up to 16 months so patiently anticipating that day : ) .
I am trying to get my seized passport back, because I need it for something, I called CIC they claim that I have to wait for my PR interview and it will be handed to me then, but I can’t wait any longer and was wondering if there was anyway I could get it back since my application was approved and I’ve been here for 2 years now, I read online that there’s a form I could send , it’s a request to obtain a seized item back but it says I have to file with in 60 days from the day the item was seized, so not sure about that.
I really need my passport back and would appreciate any insight or information.
Thank you

According to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre, you will have to write a letter to the CIC office that is processing your file, outlining the reasons why you need to get your passport back before receiving your permanent residency.
According to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre, there are no guarantees that they will return it before you get your permanent residency, however, if they find that your reasons are valid, they may accept them.
If you require assistance, you may want to contact the nearest immigrant and refugee serving organization. They may be able to provide some assistance with what to include in your letter or refer you to an organization that can help.
Hi dear Moderator. During the Pandemic of 2021, I received my PR card. As a result, I did not receive my Seized Passport back. Additionally, I sent a letter on 7 Mar 2022 about my situation, but I have not heard back from anyone. So how can I get my Seized Passport back? Thanks.

No one is helping in IRCC phone is always closing to my face and they do not give my passport back they also do not give the travel document less than 1 year as I spoke to people who applied for it. Might as well wait until you are Canadian. This system is exhausting and it is actually hurting their own country with these delays.
