Hi Just got our Visa 2 weeks ago through the Quebec selection process and we intend to settle in Quebec but coming from Egypt.

There is a cheap direct flight from Egypt to Toronto.

Will it be a problem to land in Toronto and then travel to Montreal by Car the next day.

Staying in a hotel for 1 night and landing in Toronto is almost 1000$ cheaper than trying to fly from Egypt to Montreal.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to provide you with a definitive response regarding whether or not this will cause a problem for you.

According to several CIC representatives, unfortunately, there is no definitive answer that can be provided because it will be based on a few things.

These may include what the immigration officer at your port of entry decides and how you provide proof of your onward transportation.

They mentioned that it is important that you explain your plans for travelling to Montreal and the reasons why you chose to travel to Toronto. You may also want to show proof that you will be staying in a hotel and then travelling to Montreal.

They also suggested that you show proof of how you will be establishing yourself in Montreal, like where you will be initially settling when you arrive there.

We have had some of our users previously state that they have been able to contact CIC from abroad by dialing 1 613 944 4000. Listen to the options to get to CIC.

Please note though that some have reported that it did not work for them or that it is no longer working.

Hi Anna

Thanks for your answer, I think right now we would just try to land in Montreal direct even it is more expensive to avoid any inconveniences, it’s long trip from Egypt to Canada.

But one more question, What is the max amount of funds I can carry on with me and Land with, is it 10k or I am free to carry/bring more than 10k.
