Settlement services

I am applying for PR and intends to live in Toronto as a Permanent Resident. Currently, I am based in Mauritius and bilingual.

I am reaching out to connect with newcomer or settlement agencies in Toronto that could help me settle quickly and effectively.

My primary focus upon arrival is to establish myself and secure a job at the earliest opportunity. I would appreciate any guidance, resources, or connections that these agencies can provide to support this transition.

If there are any organizations in Toronto with specific ties to Mauritius or programs tailored to newcomers, I would love to learn more about them. My goal is to make the most of the support available to settle in Toronto successfully.

Thank you
Sahir

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your question with us!

Settlement services help immigrants and refugees adjust to their new lives in Canada by providing assistance to individuals at various stages of the settlement process. These services are free and are always confidential.

A number of settlement services are providing intake appointments online and over the phone to support clients remotely, especially for pre-arrival services. Pre-Arrival Services offer support with preparing to work and live in Canada. You can find more information about pre-arrival services on the IRCC website.

Outside of the settlement sector, there is the Toronto Mauritius Association who brings together and support the Mauritian community; and organize social, cultural, recreational activities, and promote Mauritian culture in Canada.

We hope this information is helpful, and please follow up with us if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

Your Settlement.Org Team
