returning from the U.S. without a PR card

Hi,

I plan to visit the US a few days after I landed and so will be returning to Canada without a PR card as that will still be being processed.

Do I still need to apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document in order to re-enter Canada in this case ?

Hello !
I must apologies for posting a question and not responding as I dont know where otherwise to post my question.

I applied for renewal of my Canadian PR card in July 2015. Since then in December 2015 I recieved a note that they have started processing effective 21st December 2015. Since then neither I have send reminders for the update but neither any updates nor the card has come.
It has been over a year now. When I go to IRCC wbsite it says " processing"
I don’t understand 1 year time ??? Does it take so long in some cases ???
Can any one help me suggest what should I do. where to contact or get an update on the status
Really appreciate any help

Hi drfarahfatima,

I haven’t landed yet. But from checking on the Internet, I think it is a big hassle to apply for PRTD. Need to apply for it at a visa office outside Canada and it could take 3 weeks.

Hi Wof37,

Thanks for sharing the information. We received almost similar information through our friends circle. Do you know what all documents can be given as proof in the border when returning in private vehicle to Canada from US. Following documents seems valid but not sure if Canadian BSF accepts them

  1. COPR document
  2. Rental Lease agreement
