Hi I will be marrying Canadian citizen on October in South Korea
and will apply for the PR and this is the where my question comes out.
we figured out that even I don’t live in Canada if my partner lives with me in Korea that considers as physically present.
And I do want to apply for the Citizenship if I can and this is where my question comes out.
So I used to study in Toronto about 4 years when I was young around 5th grade to 8th grade
Days spent in Canada before becoming a permanent resident (as a temporary resident or protected person) within 5 years of applying for citizenship, count as ½ days, up to a maximum of 1 year (365 days).
As the policy changed, for me that probably count as 1 year for the citizenship 3 out of 5 years but I still have 2 more year to go and I probably have to keep working in Korea for few more years
Does my partner staying with me also counts for the Citizenship or not?
I am a Canadian Citizen, my wife failed to pass the Citizen Exam (she lived 6 years in Canada) and the judge didn’t approve her case in 2011. She is living with me outside of Canada since 2011.
Can she apply for the exam now without meeting the 730 days during the last five years?
Best Regards
Thank you for sharing your wife’s situation and question with us.
You can find some detailed information on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website in the Time you’ve lived in Canada section. Here is an excerpt,
You may want to contact the IRCC Call Centre directly for some information specific to your wife’s situation.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
I have applied for renewal for Permanent Residency. My card expired last July 30, 2019. My application was acknowledged to have been received on Oct 25, 2018. When I follow up with IRCC, I get the reply that my application has been sent to local IRCC for further assessment.
It’s more than a year now but I have NOT yet received any further requirements to meet any further assessment.
Is it possible to withdraw my application and resubmit anew?
What could be reasons for the delayed processing of my application?
