Hello
My wife and I have been married since 2009.
We applied for PR through Ontario PNP. She was the main applicant.
She landed with our kids in August 2017 (they had already been in Canada under my old work permit as long term visitors).
I allowed my PR offer to exire and never landed by the deadline in Jan 2018.
Now I want a divorce and will not join my family in Canada due to a breakdown in the marriage.
Can the divorce have any impact on her PR or the children´s PR?
I will continue to pay maintenance to support the family.
Thanks in advance
Elroy

Has no impact on her or the Childrens PR status.
Thanks so much for the response.
Do you work for Settlement.org or just a board contributor?

Sorry to trouble you, but I was just trying to establish how “official” your response was or what the basis of it is.
Thanks in advance

Hello Elroy,
Thank you for sharing your additional questions with us.
You can find some detailed information in our Settlement.Org How does divorce affect my immigration status? article.
You can also find some additional information on the Family Law Education for Women (FLEW) website in the Family Law Issues for Immigrant, Refugee and Non-Status Women section.
Here is an excerpt,
[Permanent Residents
If your partner (including a same sex partner) sponsored you to become a permanent resident and your relationship ends before your permanent residence is granted, your immigration status could be at risk and you could be removed from Canada. If you are already a permanent resident you cannot lose this status or be removed from Canada just because you separate from your partner. This is true even if your partner sponsored you to come to Canada.
The onus is on your wife and children to maintain their own residency requirements for permanent residency on their own.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Hi,
I just want to ask regarding our situation being married couple. As of the moment we are not legally separated and the sponsorship was continuously processed even we are separated. The family sponsorship was applied last 2013 and now we grant our PR as immigrant for quebec, my question is, if i will decide to use my visa, can I live with my relative in quebec?& once I get my PR is it possible to move to Calgary after 3 months?
Thanks,
Vic
