The person in question is currently in Canada but has not fulfilled the requirement of spending 703 days (2 years) in Canada over the past 5 years. Their PR card is set to expire in June and they need to leave the country in November for a week.
Is possible for them to get their PR card renewed before they travel? Or will they lose their PR status because they haven’t met the residency requirements?
I am outside Canada. My PR card expired in December 2015 I did not meet the requirements. I have two children ages 6and 9 who were born in Canada. I would like to take them back to Canada to live permanently. The country where we currently reside is becoming increasingly dangerous everyday. My husband and I have to do what’s best for them.
Your advice and guidance will be greatly appreciated.
It is important to note that if you decide to apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) at the nearest Canadian Visa Office, since you have not met your residency requirements, starting this process may also start the process to determine whether or not you have lost your PR status.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
