I am planning to do our first landing me and my family in November 2014. I will apply for all official cards(PR, Driver’s License, Health cards, etc…), and I will try to receive them, if we couldn’t I will let our relatives send them through courier. I will go back home by end of November and come back again to Canada in May 2015.
Will there be any problem for the PR status, or is this plan complies with Candian requlations and policeis.
no problem, many people land first, go back to settle their stuff and then come back for good.
Two things to consider:
If you are immigrating to Canada, you do not need to apply for a permanent resident card (PR card). CIC will mail your card to you after you get to Canada. (see here)
there is no point in applying for OHIP if you plan to go back until May 2015. See the eligibility criteria for OHIP here.
Some of the requirements are:
I didn’t understand the qouted portion of your subject. Specially the second point, “(you cannot be absent for more than 30 days during the first 6 months of residence)”
Thanks for sharing your question and situation with us.
The requirement
Means you cannot physically be outside of Ontario (in another province or country) for more than 30 days (total) in the first 6 months after you have moved to Ontario and have applied for OHIP. You may wish to follow the other user’s suggestion to land as you plan and, upon your return, in 2015 apply for OHIP at that time as you will have made ‘your primary place of residence in Ontario’.
