Immigration Application Documents

Hello,

An applicant has completed the immigration process and obtained the permanent residency a year ago. The applicant just received an email from Immigration Canada to provide them with an updated contact address for the return of original documents pertaining to the application, although no request has been made from the applicant’s side. Is this a regular process?
If yes, can the documents be mailed to an an address outside of Canada?
Finally, what if the applicant doesn’t require those original documents any more?

Thanks

Hello there,

Thank you for sharing your question with us.

If the applicant did not request a change of address it is unlikely IRCC would reach out to them to do so. There is a chance this is not a legitimate request from IRCC. On their website, IRCC says:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1205&top=31

The first thing you should do is contact IRCC directly to understand if they sent this request.

I hope this information was helpful.
