COPR & Port of entry

Hello,

I have received the CoPR documents for me and my husband. The destination mentioned in CoPR is Regina. Our PR was processed through Saskatchewan PNP Nomination.
I have following questions:

  1. When I travel to Canada, can my final destination be elsewhere (outside Saskatchewan) like in Manitoba?

  2. Can I provide address of my friends/relatives in Canada (but outside Saskatchewan) for receiving PR cards, if I intend to stay only for 2 weeks initially as I am working in USA currently. I am planning to move to Canada permanently next year.

  3. How many hours do I need between connecting flights at the port of entry, to allow for document processing / interview etc by immigrant officials?

  4. Can I show Bank Statement of a US bank as Proof of Funds?

All responses are appreciated and thank you for your support.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing our situation and questions with us.

In terms of your first question,

It is important that you confirm this information because as you may recall, when applying it is likely you had to provide information to prove that you intend to live and work in Saskatchewan.

You may want to confirm by contacting them directly at 306-798-7467 or email immigration@gov.sk.ca.

Regarding your second question,

According to IRCC, you need to provide a Canadian address within 180 days of arriving in order to receive your PR card at that address.

Unfortunately, it is difficult for us to provide a definitive response regarding this as it can differ at each port of entry and there are many factors to consider.

We hope that others who have gone through a similar process can share their experiences and suggestions with you.

Regarding your fourth question,

According to the IRCC Website,

You may also find some helpful information in our Settlement.Org What documents should I bring with me when landing in Canada as a new immigrant? article.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Hello,

While applying to Express Entry I mentioned Edmonton as my city of destination, so now it’s mentioned in my CoPR. However at the moment I have plans to land and stay in Toronto (I land on 3rd of December in Toronto Pearson NA). Will I have problems with it during my settlement?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

Generally, as long as you have not been selected based on a provincial nominee program and you have not signed an agreement to settle in a particular province, according to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Call Centre , you should be okay to land anywhere.

You may want to review your application and any agreements that you have signed.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Hello,

When I applied for my PR, it was based on a Job Offer/LMIA from an employer based in Vancouver, BC and hence on my CoPR the destination province is mentioned as BC and the destination city as Vancouver.

Now I have another better job in Toronto, Ontario.

My queries are:

  1. Can I land in Toronto, Ontario as a port of entry or do I need to land in Vancouver only?

  2. If it is mandatory for me to land in Vancouver BC, after how much time I can move to Toronto Ontario, please?

  3. If I land in Vancouver and then move to Toronto, then will that affect when I would apply for citizenship after 3 years, please?

Kindly provide your expert guidance for the above 3 queries if possible, please.

Kind Regards
