I am sponsoring my common-law partner for the purposes of obtaining permanent residency status. I understand if successful he will receive a COPR which states he has to “land” in Canada within 12 months in order for the PR status to take hold.
Does “land” mean the date when we emigrate or is it possible for him to fly to Canada just to complete the the PR process and then we emigrate at a later date (provided we live 2 years out of 5 for the PR to become permanent)?
I’m just worried that as we don’t know how long it will take for PR to be received (could be 6 months, could be as much as 15 months from other people’s experiences) that it’s difficult to plan exactly the date we will formally emigrate.
