I applied for my PR with my husband and in August 2017 we received out confirmation of PR, unfortunately since this date we have separated.
I only have until 25/02/18 to activate my residency, although will only be staying for two days before returning to the UK as I need to continue to build my finances.
I contacted the High Commission but they told me I’d have to be in Canada to get an answer. I’m worried that I’d get to the hoarder control and not be allowed through because of the change in status! I really don’t know what to do as I don’t want to lose the visa because of corcumstances outside my control.
We can appreciate that you would be concerned about this situation as there are likely some instructions in the letters you received regarding your Confirmation of Permanent Residency regarding change of marital status.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a definitive response regarding this situation.
It is best that you contact a Lawyer or a reputable, registeredImmigration Consultant who is familiar with Canadian immigration issues for some advice and assistance with this situation.
