I am single mom, a canadian citizen. I’m planning to sponsor my boyfriend, whose work permit will expire this Nov 2014,under a common law partner. But I am in a debt settlement program. Am i eligible to sponsor him? I have read that you cannot sponsor if you are on bankruptcy. I’m just wondering if it will affect our application. Thank you

In order to sponsor a spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner, the sponsor does not have to meet a minimum income requirement.
The sponsor cannot be receiving social assistance or be an undeclared bankrupt.
