# PRC Renewal - Which Passport do we use?

My family PRC will expire in Aug 2016, while our passports which we used for the immigration process including the landing will expire in July 2016.  
My question is that after renewing passport , we will apply to renew PRC cards ,which passport should be used to renew PRC and should we expect problem due to that .

1. You don’t need a passport to renew your PR card, although if you have one you send copies of your current valid one. PR cards aren’t tied to a passport.
2. You should include copies of your old passport as well as your new one, it will save time if IRCC questions residency obligation. Ensure that any foreign stamps are translated.
