PR Renewal - Invitation or an RQ?

Hi Anna,

I applied for my spouse’s PR card renewal, online status shows that it was approved and sent to local office.

Now we have received a letter that states:

Your new permanent Resident (PR) Card has been received at the Toronto Office.

According to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, all permanent residents of Canada are subject to a residency assessment at the time of distribution of their new PR card. An immigration official will review your documents and may request additional information to determine your eligibility for a PR card.

Required Documents:

This letter
All Passports (Current and Expired)
List of absences from Canada
Valid Photo IDs
Expired PR Card
Proof of residence in Canada

Every person who receives this letter must appear in person, no exceptions.

Date and Time etc.

My question is:

Is this an RQ or invitation to come and collect the PR card. Could it be converted into an RQ?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
-Ray

Hello Ray,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

According to a CIC representative, it may be an interview to verify the originals of the documents they have requested you take. They may simply want to review those documents.

If you have any additional questions or are concerned, you may want to contact the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre directly.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
