Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

You mentioned that you are a resident of Canada. If you are referring to being a Permanent Resident of Canada, you can find some helpful and detailed information in our **[Settlement.Org](http://Settlement.Org)** [How do I sponsor a spouse, common-law or conjugal partner, or dependent child living outside of Canada?](http://settlement.org/ontario/immigration-citizenship/sponsorship/outside-canada/how-do-i-sponsor-a-spouse-common-law-or-conjugal-partner-or-dependent-child-living-outside-of-canada/) article.

If you by being a student, you are concerned about an income requirement, in terms of a specific _income requirement_ in order to sponsor a spouse to Canada, there is no income requirement at all for spousal sponsorship applications.

Although there is no income requirement, you must not be receiving welfare benefits from any province (other than for disability) and you must not be in bankruptcy proceedings or an undischarged bankrupt.

You can also find some additional and very detailed, specific information in the [Guide 3900 - Sponsorship of a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner or dependent child living outside Canada](http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp).

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Hello, I am a student holding permanent residency in canada. I want to sponsor my husband but i dont work here in canada and my husband does in saudi arabia. Can you tell me other income i can show other than employment income to sponsor my husband? since the canada asks for eligibility to provide food, home and shelter for your partner?

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

As you may already know, the sponsorship guidelines only state that you cannot be an undeclared bankrupt or be receiving social assistance.

In your case, if you do not have employment, IRCC will likely ask you to demonstrate how you can support your spouse in Canada without any income.

We suggest that it is best if you contact the [Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)](http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/call.asp) Call Centre directly for information specific to your situation and for responses specific to your questions.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
